Improv for Wellbeing @ Inside Out Theatre

Calgary, AB

Improv for Wellbeing takes from the principles of improvised theatre to offer a focus on mental wellness. These fun and relaxed Improv classes are open to anybody but are tailored to those wishing to add to their personal mental health and wellness toolkit. This may include individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, Mad identifying or continuing their mental health awareness journey. This program does not emphasize performance skills or Improv as entertainment. Each class will usually consist of a few activities followed by short group discussions and reflections. Workshop facilitators will have either lived experience in using Improv to reduce anxiety or are familiar with/trained in therapeutic approaches to leading improv sessions. While these sessions will hopefully be complimentary to mental health services an individual may be utilizing based on their needs, please note that this is not group therapy or an appropriate substitute for psychotherapy for those seeking it. Inside Out Theatre offers a Pay-What-You-Can registration model because strive to remove barriers for participants, including financial barriers.
