PreVenture Program @ Maryvale
Windsor, ON
PreVenture is a workshop for youth aged 12-17 which aims to identify personality-related risk factors, such as anxiety, depression, and impulsivity, which may be associated with mental health concerns and substance misuse. Workshops aim to strengthen youths’ capacity to cope and provide them with the tools they need to pursue and attain their long-term goals. The program was developed by Dr. Patricia Conrod, a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Université de Montréal, a clinical psychologist and a researcher at the CHU Sainte-Justine Research Center. Previous studies have demonstrated that the PreVenture program can effectively prevent or reduce alcohol misuse, drug use as well as conduct, and-or mental health concerns. Previous studies have also shown that the beneficial effects of the program can be maintained for two years after its delivery.
