Supporting Individuals Working with Young Children with Special Needs in Rural and Remote Areas – Module 6: Filling their Toolbox: Guiding Children’s Behaviour
This is the sixth module of "Supporting Individuals Working with Young Children with Special Needs in Rural and Remote Areas", a six-module course aimed at people in rural, remote, and northern Canada who work with, or considering working with, children who have special needs.
This Module will assist learners to:
- Describe how attachment and self-esteem relate to guiding children’s behaviour,
- Describe and utilize the “ACT” approach to children’s behaviour, and
- Use the “ABC” approach to determine the function of a child’s behaviour, and learn to modify the child’s environment/approach (according to that specific behaviour) in order to encourage more positive outcomes.
